BluHomes Katmon was awarded with EDGE Advanced Preliminary Green Building Certificate

BluHomes Katmon was awarded with EDGE Advanced Preliminary Green Building Certificate by the Philippine Green Building Initiative and IFC - International Finance Corporation, having achieved 72% savings in energy, 32% savings in water, and 34% savings in embodied energy in materials.

This was achieved by using the following design & construction features:

1. 1.84 kWp photovoltaic grid-tied system for clean and renewable source of energy
2. 1-meter deep roof overhang for more shade and less direct sunlight
3. Reflective white exterior walls and roofs to reflect heat coming from solar radiation
4. 20mm thick polyethylene foam insulation with 2-sided aluminum foil for insulation on the roof
5. Fully-operable swing-type windows with insect screen to promote natural ventilation
6. Correctly-sized windows and 2.5-meter high ceilings for natural ventilation and natural daylighting
7. Dual flush and water-saving toilets with 6 liters and 3 liters per flush
8. Low-flow faucets for lavatory and kitchen sink with flow rate of 4 liters per minute
9. Low-flow shower heads with flow rate of 7.6 liters per minute
10. LED light bulbs at all areas

Aside from these, each home will be planted with an endangered tree that is native to the Philippines called Katmon Tree to help conserve its species.
